The composer Paul Lansky
In 1996, a few CDs by the Princeton-based and teaching composer Paul Lansky fell into my hands - among them a composition that I found particularly funny: it consisted of an infinite number of small recordings of kitchen noises, pots, plates, bowls, cutlery, voices, mixers, toasters - everything that stands around in a kitchen. For me, that was reason enough to call Paul Lansky - because far too rarely does contemporary serious music show its humorous side. A good five years later, we filmed a version of this music with Paul Lansky for our film: "My Cinema for the Ears".
