In 1996, I met an old man in a karaoke bar in Hanoi who began to tell me about his life in French that was difficult to understand. Back in Berlin, I had the idea of combining this life story from childhood to old age with the sounds of the Vietnamese capital that I had collected during my trip: From Morning to Midnight.
