inpetto filmproduktion makes films that encourage the viewer to look beyond the pictures, to focus their perception on hearing, on the act of listening. This is not just listening to manufactured or composed subjects, but also as a form of everyday, but highly conscious, all-round perception.

We don’t think of all the sounds we hear in the natural world or the urban environment as beautiful or interesting – but there are sounds where we immediately feel uplifted: the kind of aural experience where you feel like you’re relaxing on a feather bed. Babbling water, whispering of the wind, birdsong, or waves on the seashore – these are the classic sounds that help us to feel at one, or somehow ‘home again’. But there are other sounds - a night club, a birthday party, or a church service, that can be interpreted as part of the furniture of our everyday existence.

Each of the recordings from the ‘séries sonores’ by inpetto filmproduktion offer up to 80 minutes of acoustic atmospheres from different everyday environments, the natural world, or from the centre of busy cities. You can also find the soundtracks to our films, and a selection of our radio features. Come along and be surprised!

Most of the recordings have been made with the Schoeps-MS microphone MK41/MK8 and the Schoeps pre-amp VMS 5U onto a Sony DAT TCD D10-PROII. Sometimes I have used an AKG 522MS microphone. Editing was done with 32-bit CUTMaster by Creamware, NAD T 753 Surround-Receiver and Teufel Theatre 4 Monitor loudspeakers.
